#VanLife: A Road Trip Packing List

Camper van on a grassy field

It’s been a year of road trips. The open road, with the sun shining and the best—occasionally, worst—music playing is an exciting place to be. Maybe you’re headed to the beach, maybe it’s the mountains. Driving from coast to coast or crashing at a few quaint bed ‘n’ breakfasts, sleeping in a tent, or staying in a high end boutique hotel. Perhaps you are en route to Vegas to get married. Wherever you’re headed, you’ll need some things along the way to make it a comfortable trip. We’ve rounded up our essential (and sustainably-focused) packing list. It’s got the things you really need but might have forgotten otherwise. We’ll leave the playlist up to you.

Soleil Tojours Reef Safe Sunscreen
This 100% mineral, vegan, and reef safe sunscreen is very subtly fragranced with natural fragrance. It has an incredible lightweight texture that doesn’t leave any white cast or greasiness, but hydrates and evens your skin tone overall. Plus, it works really really well.
Avocado Green Mattress Pillow
Trust us, a pillow is key to a good road trip (as long as you’re not the driver). This Avocado Green Mattress pillow is stuffed with super fluffy organic latex and wrapped in organic cotton. It’s nontoxic, vegan and handmade, and it zips open so you can adjust the level of stuffing yourself to make sure it’s just right.

Yeti Tundra 45 Hard Cooler

Gummy bears and Doritos have their appeal, but by packing a good cooler, you can bring healthier, more delicious snacks that will keep you satisfied and hydrated the whole way: cherries, yogurt, cold brew coffee, carrots, apricots, cucumbers. This cooler is super durable, retains temperature better than anything, and even comes with a handy rack for your dry goods.

Fellow Carter “Move” Mug
Coated in a ceramic lining that won’t react with your coffee and therefore keeps it tasting great, this award-winning neat little to-go mug fits in most cupholders, and comes with a splash guard so you won’t spill while driving.
Lexxola Sunglasses
Unisex eyewear that’s sustainably made in factories using renewable energy sources, packaged in recycled packaging, and that donates 1% of profits to organizations working toward more sustainable cities. Plus they look really great on everybody.
Miir Wide-Mouthed Bottle
Stay hydrated, plastic free. We love this sturdy wide-mouthed bottle you can fill with ice, store in your cup holder, and clean easily. It’ll keep your water cold without sweating and is leak proof so you don’t have to worry about the rest of your belongings.
